You are presented with "Restore to Factory Default" or restore back to a Microsoft Restore Point. Yep, you can't reinstall the software or drivers individually from the Restore Discs. Now the problem.when you use the Restore Discs (that is, boot from Restore Disc 1) to run Restore Manager, both the install Software and install Driver options are GONE. Next step, or so I thought, why not do a "clean Windows 7" install and then use the Restore Manager from the newly burned DVD's to install only those programs and drivers that I wanted or needed. Good nning the Restore Manager from within Windows using the files on the hard drive allow for re-installation of both the software and the drivers which were factory installed on the PC. One of the posts pointed to the Restore Manager from within Windows 7 and I reviewed the options in that program. I completed that and it required only 3 DVD's.

One recommendation which I followed was that I create the Restore Discs for my 9280t. I was initially excited about some of the options presented, so I took some time to review and investigate the information provided in replys to my original post. On my own, I downloaded from another site, the full version of Windows 7, Professional 圆4 and burned a DVD, so I think I can use it along with my Product Key that came with the HP PC, but that doesn't help with the other software.įor example, I would like to install Cyberlink DVD Suite Deluxe and the Lightscribe software along with some utilities tools that came pre-installed. I was on the phone with HP Support and other departments for over 2 hrs on Monday trying to address this issue. Only a RESTORE DVD for my specific model could be provided (or I could create my own.)

They told me HP does not provide backup CD's\DVD's for specific software (including the OS) that came with the unit. Tech support advised me the only way to reinstall the preinstalled software is to do a complete RESTORE. On Saturday () I received my new 9280t Pavilion Elite HP PC. My intent is to replace the included hard drive with one of my own (or reformat the included drive) and then perform a clean install of Windows 7 and only certain other provided software. I would like to know how to perform a clean reinstall of Windows 7, Professional 圆4 along with specific (individual) HP provided software that came preinstalled on my new 9280t Pavilion Elite HP PC.
